James Franco Wants Jimmy Kimmel to Shine His Walk of Fame Star

James Franco was the 2492nd Hollywood figure to receive a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame March 7, 2013. His good friend Seth Rogen, who he's known since he was 16 when they met on Judd Apatow's Freaks and Geeks short-lived television series, was on hand to say some kind words about his long-time pal.  OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL director Sam Raimi, co-star Joey King, mom and actor-brother Dave Franco were also on hand to help celebrate Franco's immortalization in cement in front of El Capitan Theater.

Franco thanked the many people who have guided his career and said they, too, deserve their name on the star. The eclectic actor also pointed out the star's placement in front of El Capitan Theater was a perfect location, and he hoped talk show host Jimmy Kimmel would keep his star looking bright.  Jimmy Kimmel Live! shoots next door to El Capitan.  "I hope Jimmy Kimmel comes and shines my star every morning," he remarked.

Getting the Hollywood Walk of Fame star seemed surreal to the Palo Alto, CA native who also admits he's not comfortable with the spotlight. When he first came to Hollywood, the Walk of Fame was a distant dream.

James Franco's career has been an interesting one with numerous projects that have baffled fans and the media including a stint on daytime soap opera General Hospital, becoming a professor, his much-maligned hosting duties at the Academy Awards, and small web-based projects. He first came to attention with Freaks and Geeks, and later as James Dean in a TNT movie.

James Franco is curently starring in OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL along with Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, and Zach Braff.
