The Grey if starring Women

Only a handful of women appear on screen in the male-dominated hit THE GREY starring Liam Neeson. But what if the movie were remade starring only women?  THE GREY director Joe Carnahan tells us what the movie would look like if the women were given the task of surviving a plane crash and hungry wolves.

THE GREY Battle The Alaskan WildernessTHE GREY took the number one spot at the box office opening weekend this month. The action thriller stars Liam Neeson, Dermot Mulroney, Frank Grillo (Warrior), Dallas Roberts, Ben Bray, James Badge Dale and Nonso Anozie. In THE GREY, an Alaskan oil drilling team are returning home to their families when their plane crashes in the snowy wild.  Only a handful of survivors live but now their lives are at stake because of the freezing cold and the wolves hunting them down one by one.  Hiding out in a portion of the plane wreckage, the men must decide to stay and wait for help as the wolves kill them off one by one or go out into the snowy terrain and look for shelter. The men argue back and forth whether to stay or go out into the wild. After a couple of fist fights, they decide to take their chances out in the open.

In Defense of the Big Bad Wolf in THE GREY

At a recent press event, director Joe Carnahan was posed the question of what if women were the only survivors on the plane crash. How would THE GREY play out differently? His response gives credit to women's decisiveness.

"The movie would be 15 minutes long. They'd all agree on what to do, they'd walk out and live."

THE GREY is now playing in movie theatres.
