A sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger has been announced and the release date set for two years from now. The Walt Disney Studios not only made the announcement that the Marvel Studios' sequel will be in theaters April 4, 2014, but the Hollywood studio also revealed details about the story.As fans await the release of the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers on May 4th, now they have something else to look forward to with the announcement of the sequel to the blockbuster about the super soldier played by Chris Evans. There won't be much online speculation as to the plot of the movie as Walt Disney Studios already spilled the beans on some of the story details. The second installment will pick up where the AVENGERS leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues to collaborate with S.H.I.E.L.D but the World World II veteran still struggles with his role in the modern world. Samuel L. Jackson will return as Nick Fury in the sequel. Off course fans won't know how Marvel's The Avengers leaves off until the film opens in theaters May 4th, but we're pretty sure the good guys win.
Walt Disney Studios also released a new image of Chris Evans as Captain America from Marvel's The Avengers along with the announcement. The start date for the production of the Captain America: The First Avenger 2 has not been announced nor if director Joe Johnston will return to direct the follow-up.
