G.I. JOE: RETALIATION’s DJ Cotrona and Adrianne Palicki Allergic to Superhero Tights

DJ-Cotrona-Adrianne-Palicki-interview
DJ Cotrona and Adrianne Palicki, stars of G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, both were once attached to play DC comic superheroes Superman and Wonder Woman, but both gigs were cancelled, so playing GI Joes certainly made up for it.

DJ Cotrona and Adrianne Palicki  join Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum in the follow up to 2009’s G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra.  Before starring together in the action flick, the two met while a Justice League movie was under way with George Miller directing and Peter Jackson’s WETA company producing.  DJ was up for the role of Superman while Adrianne tested for Wonder Woman.  The DC comic book movie failed to materialize because of the Writer’s Strike in 2009, so DJ lost out donning a cape and spandex.  Adrianne went on to play Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in a television pilot written by Ally McBeal and Boston Legal’s David E. Kelley.  That too got canned.

“My tights movie fell apart and then she shot Wonder Woman, and her tights movie got taken away,” DJ joked.  Adrianne followed that up with.  “So we don’t do tights anymore, we do real action heroes. “

Both actors brought their skills from the brief experience as superheroes to the roles of G.I. Flint and G.I. Jaye.  In our video interview with the action heroes, the two describe their experience working with  the Dwayne, Bruce and Channing.

The two actors are now immortalized as action figures with their own dolls.  They are okay with having toys resembling them, and who wouldn’t.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION is now playing in movie theaters.
