Oscar Winner: Anne Hathaway Wins Best Supporting Actress for Les Misérables

Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfriend, and Russell Crowe belt out tunes in the motion-picture adaptation of Les Misérables.  The musical garnered eight Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role with Hugh Jackman, Actress in a Leading Role for Anne Hathaway, just to name a fewUnlike other musicals in which the actors sing in a booth, and later lip synch on set along with a track, the A-list talent sung their little hearts out live on set.  Under the direction of Tom Hooper, The King’s Speech’s Academy Award®-winning director, the beloved songs from the world’s longest-running musical are sung by Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, and Russell Crowe in these clips from the Christmas release.

Hugh Jackman and Amanda Seyfried (Mama Mia) have proven they’ve got the singing chops, but what about first-timers Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe?   Hathaway takes it to the next level proving she can sing. Russell Crowe has never sung on camera although he fronted two bands with 30 Odd Foot of Grunts and The Ordinary Fear Of God.

Set in the backdrop of 19th century France, Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for years by the ruthless policeman Javert, played by Russell Crowe.  When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
