Agents-of-Shield-on-ABC

Marvel plans on conquering television next as they bring their golden touch to ABC.  Clark Gregg returns from the dead to head the agents of the S.H.I.E.L.D. in this first look at the new series from Joss Whedon.

Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson met his doom in The Avengers at the hands of Loki, but the likeable agent is brought back to life in a pre-Avengers storyline that may or may not include cameos from the likes of Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey, Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, etc. but we can expect a lot of footage from all of Marvel's films to provide some background.  If you take a look at the official website for the ABC show at agentsofshield.com, there are mentions of sightings such as Iron Man in the blog section of the site.

In the Marvel Comics Universe, S.H.I.E.L.D. is a espionage and law-enforcement agency that deals with superhuman threats.  After the success of the short film "Item 47" featured on The Avengers Blu-ray and DVD release, Marvel probably realized they have a goldmine for an episodic series.  Like Men in Black, the show will most likely deal with other Marvel comic book heroes and villains with super-powers or even aliens as the Rising Tide blog suggest.

Besides Clark Gregg, another familiar face is ER's Ming-Na Wen, but aside from the main stars, can we expect Nick Fury's Samuel L. Jackson to pop in since he does head the department.  We hope so.  And what about Black Widow? She's a big part of that agency, but don't get your hopes up high that movie star Scarlett Johansson take a full-time job on the ABC television series.

Look out for the AGENTS OF THE SHIELD this fall.
