Margot Robbie's 'Barbie' Team Adapting Monopoly Game Into A Feature Film

Margot Robbie's production team behind BARBIE's groundbreaking adaptation is setting its sights on adapting Hasbro's Monopoly game into a movie. Robbie's Luckychap producing team signed a deal with Lionsgate and Hasbro Entertainment to bring the classic board game to life.
Headed by Robbie, her husband Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara, Luckychap adapted Mattel's Barbie into 2023's highest-grossing film with a global take of $1.44 billion.
Adapting the board game seems like a daunting task, but no one believed the BARBIE movie could attain the commercial success it achieved.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. April 10, 2024 – Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B) and Hasbro announced today that they have signed a deal with LuckyChap, the award-winning production company headed by Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara, to produce Monopoly, a motion picture in development based on the legendary classic board game. Hasbro Entertainment will also produce.
Lionsgate extended its development rights to the beloved, multi-generational board game with its purchase of eOne, which was completed in December 2023. Monopoly is the world’s most popular board game brand, with 99% global awareness, and is available in more than 100 countries across the globe, selling nearly half a billion copies going back to 1935.
LuckyChap most recently produced Barbie, the Oscar-winning hit that has taken in over $1.4 billion worldwide at the global box office, as well as Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn and the upcoming release My Old Ass, a hit at Sundance starring Aubrey Plaza and Maisy Stella.
