Eli Roth dreamed of making a horror film related to the Thanksgiving holiday since he was a child living in the Pilgrim State. CineMovie chatted with the writer/director about making the crowd-pleasing flick and casting icons Gina Gershon and Patrick Demsey.
THANKSGIVING is now playing in movie theaters.
MORE ABOUT THANKSGIVING
Eli Roth has directed several horror films including Cabin Fever and Hostel, but THANKSGIVING is his first film in which a villain/killer terrorizes civilians.
The idea for THANKSGIVING comes from the fake trailer of the same name created by Eli in 2007, which debuted in the middle of Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse double feature. Originally shown between the films Planet Terror and Death Proof, Eli Roth fans fell in love with the fake trailer and will finally be able to enjoy a full movie 15+ years later with THANKSGIVING.
PLOT: After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts, the birthplace of the holiday. Eliminating the residents one by one, what begins as random revenge killings is soon revealed to be part of a larger sinister holiday plan. Will the town discover the killer and survive the festivities... or will she become a guest at his twisted holiday dinner table?
