Natalie Morales On Why She and Mark Duplass Filmed A Movie Over Zoom During Height of Pandemic

Natalie Morales Language Lessons movie interview

During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Morning Show's Mark Duplass approached Natalie Morales about an idea he had for a movie to shoot from the confines of their home last year. The result was LANGUAGE LESSONS written and starring both Morales and Duplass as teacher and student with Morales directing. Morales reveals what went behind the making of the film.

In LANGUAGE LESSONS, now on Digital and DVD, Adam's (Duplass) husband surprises him with weekly Spanish lessons with Cariño (Morales) as his teacher via a video conferencing app. But when tragedy strikes, this stranger in a different county becomes a lifeline he didn’t know he needed. Adam develops an unexpected and complicated emotional bond with Cariño—but do you really know someone just because you’ve experienced a traumatic moment with them?

LANGUAGE LESSONS is the winner of the 2021 SXSW Narrative Spotlight Audience Award and the 2021 Provincetown Best Narrative Film Audience Award.
