'The Pope's Exorcist' Actor Daniel Zovatto Prepared for Role by Praying

Daniel Zovatto stars with Rusell Crowe in the horror flick, THE POPE'S EXORCIST. Daniel chats with us about having to watch exorcisms on YouTube as his homework to play a priest, and praying to keep the bad spirits away each day on set.

Zovatto is the demon-slaying assistant to Crowe's Father Gabriel Amorth, a real expert demonologist who reportedly conducted 160,000 exorcisms. While his character is based on various priests Amorth worked with, he was still spooked by the idea of telling stories about demonic possessions. The Costa Rican-born actor admitted he prayed throughout the process to ward off any evil spirits. He recounts a story about a dead bird on Crowe's doorway and other scary occurrences on set.

THE POPE'S EXORCIST is now playing in movie theaters.
