Actress Sydney Park stars with Ryan Phillipe and Joey King in the horror film, WISH UPON. She talks about working with her co-stars, her struggles in Hollywood and her next project with Dwayne Johnson. Watch video interview below.
Sydney Park just wrapped filming her new YouTube Red series, “Lifeline,” produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. She most recently completed a recurring arc on AMC’s hit show, “The Walking Dead.” She previously spent three seasons on TV Land’s “Instant Mom,” playing the lead role of Gabby, a intelligent and headstrong fifteen-year-old (going on twenty), opposite Hollywood sitcom star Tia Mowry-Hardrict. She shot two independent films last summer, Altar Rock and Pans, and is currently working on her first voiceover project, DreamWorks Animation’s Spirit, which will air on Netflix in 2017.
Sydney, a Philadelphia native (of Korean and African American descent), is driven to not only act, but to study acting and hone her craft with the very foundation of theater. She looks up to Hollywood veterans such as Sheryl Lee Ralph, Jada Smith, Will Smith and Zoe Saldana for not only their talent, but also their will to give back to the world. In her spare time, Sydney can be found reading, analyzing films, writing and occasionally going back to her roots of stand-up comedy. She holds a variety of charities near and dear to her heart, including St. Jude, Project Sunshine, ASPCA, Children of the Night and the African Millennium Foundation. Sydney hopes to one day see her career branch out into developing, directing and writing.
In the latest horror thriller from the director of ANNABELLE, 17-year-old CLARE SHANNON (Joey King) is barely surviving the hell that is high school, along with her friends MEREDITH (Sydney Park) and JUNE (Shannon Purser). So when her dad (Ryan Phillippe) gifts her an old music box with an inscription that promises to grant the owner's wishes, she thinks there is nothing to lose. Clare makes her first wish and, to her surprise, it comes true. Before long, she finally has it all: money, popularity and her dream boy. Everything seems perfect - until the people closest to her begin dying in gruesome and twisted ways. Now, with blood on her hands, Clare has to get rid of the box, before it costs her and everyone she loves the ultimate price.
Be careful what you wish for.
WISH UPON is in movie theaters July 14.
