Academy Award® winner Bong Joon Ho (PARASITE) executive produces TNT's "Snowpiercer," and his footprint is all over the heightened class struggle. However, don't expect the new series to be anything like the movie or the graphic novel. The show starts off clunky but by episode five, you're hooked.
Singer and songwriter Geoff Erwin performed original songs from his upcoming album in a virtual concert Saturday night to benefit The Code Green Campaign which brings mental health awareness and education for first responders. The acoustic set gave off a positive vibe in a time when we need it the most.
Given the times we're living in when social distancing and isolation is a must due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we need a good laugh. Here are my 10 comedy specials that will have you rolling around on your couches.
Chris Evans stars and executive produces the new tv mini-series for Apple TV + starring alongside his KNIVES OUT costar Jaeden Martell (IT Movie), Michelle Dockery ("Downton Abbey”), JK Simmons, Cherry Jones and Pablo Schreiber. The trinity of testosterone fuels this action-packed comedy. Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba butt heads literally in FAST AND FURIOUS: HOBBS AND SHAW. It's silly fun. Here's our review of the FAST AND FURIOUS spin-off.
In CRAWL, a father (Barry Pepper) and daughter (Kaya Scodelario) get caught in a Category 5 hurricane and trapped in their flooding home surrounded by alligators. The horror thriller, directed by Alexandre Aja (THE HILLS HAVE EYES) and produced by Sam Raimi (EVIL DEAD, DRAG ME TO HELL, SPIDER-MAN, is a fun scare fest that should be enjoyed with an audience. Watch my drive time review above.

Why are people hating on THE LION KING remake? I liked it a lot more than I expected and it was funnier than the original. And who doesn't enjoy watching cute animals on screen. Watch the video above for our take on the Disney classic reboot.
Marvel's footprint is all over SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME even though Sony Pictures still maintains the rights. Spider-man/Peter Parker's adventure is an enjoyable one but the action was often boring and anti-climactic. Watch my drive time review above.
The Dark Phoenix arises once again with Jean Grey, played by Sophie Turner, becoming her evil alter ego. Although the action scenes are pretty good, this by far is the worst out of the movie franchise right up there with X-MEN: THE LAST STAND. Find out why in our video review below.
GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS is the Godzilla movie we've been waiting for. Directed by Michael Dougherty (KRAMPUS), he shows great respect for the king of the monsters and incorporates a lot of the history of the Toho Godzilla movies. A true fan will recognize all those nods and enjoy the movie. Although you're not as invested in the human characters except for Millie Bobby Brown's character, and the family drama, we're there for the monster mashup. Watch our review as we skirt Los Angeles traffic.
From James Gunn comes one of the most original horror films in a long time. Executive produced by James Gunn and written by his brother Brian and cousin Mark Gunn, BRIGHTBURN takes Superman's origin story and gives it a very dark twist. BRIGHTBURN has been described as "superhero horror," and it lives up to that moniker.
If you’ve been invested in the Marvel movies since IRON MAN, be ready for your emotions to be wrecked with AVENGERS: ENDGAME. The payoff is there and you'll run the gamut of feelings from elation, laughter to a happy cry and a sad cry. The Russo Brothers and writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus threw everything in there to pay homage to the 22 films Marvel has put out. No stone was left unturned. The three hour run time went by in a snap of Thanos fingers.
A boy who raises three pelicans is at the heart of the story of STORM BOY. Newcomer Finn Little steals the show but what’s most impressive is how they got pelicans (not the most cuddly looking things) to follow the 11-year-old actor around like your average pet. STORM BOY also beautifully captures the beauty of South Australia’s coastline.
CAPTAIN MARVEL isn't going down as one of the best Marvel movies, but it's definitely entertaining and feels more like a STAR TREK movie than a Marvel outing. That's not a bad thing. It has lots of merits, and CAPTAIN MARVEL is a great movie for young girls or anyone whose told they can't achieve their dreams. By the end, there's no doubt Captain Marvel will pound Thanos to dust in ENDGAME.
SOLO: A STAR WAR STORY may be one of those movies you have to watch again to determine if you liked it or not. While it's supposed to be part of the STAR WARS universe, it feels totally different than any other film in the Lucasfilm franchise. Some may enjoy that while others may feel it doesn't pay enough fan service to the franchise. The good news is that Alden Ehrenreich grows on you as the young Han Solo, and he completely makes it his own.
Sequels rarely live up to the original with a few exceptions, and DEADPOOL 2 is one of them. Tons of surprises, fake outs and cameos along with the humor and foul language we've come to expect from the merc with the mouth make this follow-up a worthy companion.
You don't go to the FIFTY SHADES movies expecting quality. Let's be honest. Viewers go to these movies for the cheap thrills and Harlequin romance. However, one thing that can be said about both the novels and movie adaptations is that the female character of Anastasia is strong and determined not to let a man dictate her actions. That's probably the only admirable thing about the FIFTY SHADES trilogy.
BLACK PANTHER isn’t just a blockbuster superhero movie. For a lot of people, specifically people of color and women, it’s the chance to see yourself reflected on the screen and feeling empowered. The Marvel movie poses a lot of questions about how we are as a people, our history of oppression and the responsibility that comes with having power. Big action pieces are often mindless popcorn flicks, but that's not the case with BLACK PANTHER.
The premise behind the new horror flick, WINCHESTER is original but not the scares. The Spierig Brothers (JIGSAW, PREDESTINATION) directors bring lots of jump scares but not much else to the film starring Helen Mirren and Jason Clarke.
STAR WARS: THE LAST EPISODE has so many surprises and twists the two and half-hours go flyng by quickly. Director Rian Johnson has taken risks with the latest chapter in the STAR WARS saga that have paid off. All the elements that make the original's special are present in THE LAST JEDI. Awesome space battles, drama, comedy, nods to the original, jaw-dropping moments, and a few light saber battles leave you cheering and gasping. Best of all there's no Death Star, but the FIRST ORDER has even more dangerous weapons at their disposal. Here's our short but sweet review of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI with no spoilers.
