Action, horror, comedy, and a two-time Oscar nominated drama hit the movie theaters the weekend of January 28th.
Anthony Hopkins stars in THE RITE, a horror movie about exorcism. Jason Statham returns to the action genre with THE MECHANIC, and Wilmer Valderrama, Kuno Becker, Camille Belle, and Alexa Vega go the romantic route with an ethnic comedy. Javier Bardem's drama BIUTIFUL received two Academy Award nominations this week with Javier up for Best Actor and the film's nomination in Best Foreign Film category. BIUTIFUL expands into more theaters this week.

The Rite
THE RITE is a psychological thriller that uncovers the devil's reach to even one of the holiest places on Earth. The film stars Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs, Wolfman), and Alicia Braga (Predators, I Am Legend), and Rudger Hauer (Batman Begins, Blade Runner). Watch a clip.
The Mechanic
Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is a 'mechanic' - an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. It's a job that requires professional perfection and total detachment, and Bishop is the best in the business. But when his mentor and close friend Harry (Donald Sutherland) is murdered, Bishop is anything but detached. His next assignment is self-imposed - he wants those responsible dead. Watch a clip.
From Prada to Nada
whimsical spin on Austen's original, From Prada to Nada follows two spoiled sisters when they are left penniless after the sudden death of their father. Forced to move in with their estranged aunt in East Los Angeles, this is a fish-out-of-water story where the girls ultimately find romance, as well as a love for their culture. Watch 2 clips.
Biutiful
BIUTIFUL takes place in the underworld of modern Barcelona, Spain where illegal immigration is a problem for local authorities. Javier Bardem is UXbal, a single father struggling to support his two children while dealing with his bipolar ex-wife. Uxbal is a conflicted man who makes a living dealing cheap labor. He also moonlights as a ghost whisperer who can communicate with the recently deceased for money. His guilt of using African and Chinese immigrants for profit haunts his soul. To make up for it, he helps out the undocumented workers who considers friends but it leads to serious consequences for everyone. When he is diagnosed with terminal cancer, his life takes on a different meaning and he becomes even more desperate to leave his children and immigrant friends in a better place. The title of the movie comes from his daughter's drawing in which she misspells 'beautiful.' Watch a clip.
