Octavia Spencer is so over playing characters who persevered, and she's ready to play a psycho killer. THE SHAPE OF WATER allowed Spencer to act in a light-hearted movie although she is still playing a disenfranchised person who had no rights in the 50s. Josh Gad returns as Olaf in a 21-minute short, OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE featuring four original songs. The Walt Disney Animation Studios’ short will play ahead of Pixar’s COCO. At an event for OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE at Walt Disney Animation in Burbank, Ca, Gad told a crowd that he took a refresher course in voicing Olaf by rewatching the original, but the most difficult was hitting the high notes for one of the new songs.

Disney*Pixar pay homage to the Mexican tradition of the Dia de los Muertos aka Day of the Dead in COCO. COCO director and Lee Unkrich (TOY STORY 3, FINDING NEMO), and co-director Adrian Molina went to great lengths to research the holiday. The result is a beautiful and colorful story about the importance of family and a wonderful reflection of Mexican culture. Gael Garcia Bernal and Edward James Olmos voice characters in COCO, and the actors are overwhelmed by the positive message it sends at a time when it’s most needed.

Art Hernandez was born in the right city to achieve his dream of becoming an animator. Born in Los Angeles to Mexican immigrants, Arturo “Art” Hernandez was recruited by Disney Animation in Burbank at the age of 22 where he worked as a story artist on the four Tinker Bell features, CARS, and the Head of Story on PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE. After 18 years, he left Disney Animation for Sony Pictures Animation to pursue his dream of directing an animated feature. While he works on his directorial debut, he lent his talents as a story artist on THE STAR, and he describes his day-to-day job as story artist and how an animated movie all comes together.
