Actress Paula Garces (On My Block, Harold & Kumar) was inspired to create a Latina comic book character named Aluna for a comic book titled "The World of Aluna" after seeing a lack of representation in graphic novels. After a successful launch, Aluna was incorporated as a video game and is now available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox. The actress talks about her journey in bringing a Spanish/indigenous character to life, and she gives us some scoop on the fourth season of Netflix's On My Block.

VAL features footage from the actor's childhood, from on the sets of his most memorable movies, his personal life, and struggles with throat cancer. His adult children Mercedes and Jack Kilmer talk about working with their father on this project, and directors Ting Poo and Leo Scott discuss what they wanted to portray in the documentary.

The limited Netflix series is a recreation of the human stories behind the tragedy that befell the residents of Allende, Mexico. Schamus explains in the video below what about the story inspired him to take this journey to make SOMOS. and why he fictionalized the story rather than making a documentary about the tragedy.
