HBO Max's BATGIRL movie has begun production with Leslie Grace as the DC character. Director Adil El Arbi announced the news on his Instagram account with an image of the slate above the desk of Barbara Gordon. It also reveals the new DCEU movie will be shot in 60 FPS for the streaming service.

Dave Franco will be directing Alison Brie in SOMEBODY I USED TO KNOW for Amazon Studios from a script written by Franco and Brie. The romantic comedy will also star Jay Ellis and Kiersey Clemons.

Eva Longoria's feature film directorial debut, FLAMIN' HOT wrapped production in New Mexico last week. The film is based on Richard Montañez's rise from janitor to a marketing executive at Frito-Lay company and helped turn the Flamin' Hot Cheetos into a global phenomenon. The film stars Jesse Garcia (Snowfall) as Monañex, Dennis Haysbert, Emilio Rivera, Tony Shalhoub, Pepe Serna and others.

BLACK WIDOW earned the highest domestic box office since the pandemic began with an outstanding $80 million in revenue. Disney also released figures for the first time for Disney+ Premiere Access since it took in an impressive $60 million. With an international take of $78 million, the global sum was $215 million for the Marvel film. The gamble to delay the release from last year paid off.

Sony Pictures' past and future Marvel films like the SPIDER-MAN franchise and other popular titles are headed to Disney properties such as Disney+ and Hulu after their theatrical and pay tv windows. Sony's theatrical releases from 2022 to 2026 are included in the deal that signifies that Sony Pictures Entertainment are not following in other studios' footsteps in starting their own streaming service.

Amazon Studios announced Aaron Sorkin’s drama BEING THE RICARDOS has begun principle photography with Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem playing television's iconic couple. Kidman will play I Love Lucy's beloved red-head and Bardem the Cuban band leader with J.K. Disney and Marvel may be aware of this which is why they took the step to bring their upcoming films to Disney+ Premier Access. Amazon Prime Video released a press release stating the movie's massive opening weekend broke records as the most watched movie so far in 2021, and the last 12 months.
THE FLASH director Andy Muschietti has cast Latina actress Sasha Calle (The Young and the Restless) as the cinematic Supergirl for the 2022 movie starring Ezra Miller. The Argentinian director surprised the actress with the news over a Zoom session, and she burst into tears. Calle's casting marks the first time a Latino actor will be playing a DC character in a DCEU movie. Watch the video.

On Thursday the The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day event, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced Taika Waititi will indeed direct a new STAR WARS movie, and Patty Jenkins has joined the universe for ROGUE SQUADRON, a film focused on strarfighter pilots in-training. Waititi's STAR WARS film has no title or focus but Kennedy promised a "fresh" and "funny" approach.

The fifth installment of the SCREAM franchise has wrapped, and with that came the announcement of the official title from creator of the franchise, Kevin Williamson. Simply titled SCREAM, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group will release the new film on January 14, 2022.
