THE REVENANT received three Golden Globe nominations in prestigious categories Thursday. Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu received a nomination as Best Director and Best Motion Picture in the drama category. His star Leonardo DiCaprio also received a nomination for Best Actor in a drama. Iñárritu reacted to the good news.

Mexican director Alejandro G. Iñárritu looks like he’ll be having another award-winning season after taking home the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Screenplay with Birdman earlier this year in February.
In the statement below, he expresses his gratitude. THE REVENANT opens Christmas Day.
"I can’t believe this time last year we were in Calgary shooting THE REVENANT, and right now I'm in London and just heard the good news! I’m thrilled for our incredible cast and crew. Any nominations for this film are an acknowledgement of them, their hard work and great passion. I’m especially happy for Leo, his emotional performance and what he does is truly remarkable. This film is very personal for me; so I think I will have a drink with my daughter tonight to toast to everyone who was a part of it. Thank you to the HFPA, this is very nice."
