While Manson and Margot Robbie's role as Sharon Tate are real-life people, Leonardo DiCaprio's Rick Dalton and Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth are fictional characters set in the hippie world of Hollywood in 1969. Dalton plays Tate's next door neighbor so it'll be interesting to see how Tarantino handles the dark subject matter with what seems like a humorous take on Hollywood's golden age.
