2012 Alma Awards Complete Nominee List

2012's Alma Awards will be a star-studded affair of the hottest Latinos in music, film and television. This year fans decide the winners through online voting. By the looks of the nominee list, Latinos had much more impact in the media than in previous years.

The 2012 American Latino Media Arts (ALMA) Award nominees include Antonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayek, Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Cesar Millan, Joshua Gomez, James Roday, Oscar Nunez, Sara Shahi, Eva LaRue, Victoria Justice, Sofia Vergara, Naya Rivera, Aubrey Plaza, Sarah Ramos, Ricky Martin, Bruno Mars, Shakira and many others. 

For Greater Glory, the true story of the brutal slaying of Catholics in Mexico, dominated ALMA Awards® with 5 nominations. Andy Garcia and Eva Longoria each received a nomination for favorite movie actor and actress. For Greater Glory co-stars Rubén Blades and Oscar Isaac are competing against each other and three more actors in the Favorite Movie Actor – Supporting Role category.

For Greater Glory will compete in the Favorite Movie Category up against Act of Valor, Girl in Progress, Puss in Boots, and The Way starring father/son team Emilio Estevez and Martin Sheen. Oliver Stone's Savages came in a close second with three nominations for favorite actor for Salma Hayek, Benicio Del Toro, and Demian Bichir.

In music, Demi Lovato, Bruno Mars, Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, Pitbull all received nominations.  Jennifer Lopez also captured a nomination as an "American Idol" judge in the Favorite TV Reality, Variety, or Comedy Personality or Act category.

In television, Sofia Vergara as expected received a spot in the Favorite TV Actress--Comedy. The Columbian tv star is also up for an ALMA Award for her role in The Three Stooges.  Other known names such as Charlie Sheen, Hector Elizondo, Benjamin Bratt, and George Lopez also received noms for their work in television alongside young stars like "Glee's"  Naya Rivera and Nickelodeon's Victoria Justice

The 2012 Awards® awards show will air Sept. 21 8 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. CT on NBC with Eva Longoria returning as host.  To vote for your favorite actor or artist, log on to the ALMA site  and vote by September 7, 2012.   Fans logging in to vote also qualify for a VIP trip for two to the 2012 NCLR ALMA Awards taping at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium where the winner and a guest will sit in among the stars during the live taping.
