INTERVIEW: Julianne Hough Gets 'Kicked' In Her Country For ROCK OF AGES

To play an 80s rock singer in ROCK OF AGES, Julianne Hough had to leave her country roots behind to rock n' roll with Tom Cruise.  Director Adam Shankman joked he had to "kick her in her country" to transform her into a rocker.  Watch the funny exchange between the director and actress as they take the joke a lot further. 

The saying "You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl," was put to the test with ROCK OF AGES star Julianne Hough playing an aspiring rock singer in the Broadway musical adaptation directed by Adam Shankman. Starring alongside Tom Cruise, Diego Boneta, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and a slew of A-list actors, the Dancing with the Stars turned country singer transformed into Sherrie in the rock n' roll musical featuring 80s rock classics.

CineMovie's Zay Zay sat down with Adam Shankman and Julianne Hough in Miami for a one-on-one with the ROCK OF AGES director and actress. During their interview, Adam Shankman revealed he often teased the young star about taking the country out of the award-winning singer to become the character in ROCK OF AGES.  "We kind of had to kick the country out of her," according to Shankman. He then joked, "I had to kick her in her country." The interaction send Julianne and Zay Zay into a frenzy with Julianne bringing it back around during the next answer.
