Twenty-six year old actor Alden Ehrenreich was tapped to play a young version of Han Solo for the yet untitled Star Wars film centered around the early days of Han Solo and Chewbacca. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (THE LEGO MOVIE, 22 JUMP STREET) are directing the film which will begin production soon (see tweet below) from a script from Lawrence Kasdan (EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, THE FORCE AWAKENS) and and his son Jon. The Untitled Han Solo Anthology film is set for release on Memorial Day 2018.
Ehrenreich has big shoes to fill playing Harrison Ford’s iconic role as a space smuggler in one of the most beloved franchise. Here’s some background on the young actor joining the Star Wars universe.

According to IMDB, director Steven Spielberg discovered him at a batmitzvah for this daughter’s friend.
2. Auditioned for Spider-Man
Ehrenreich auditioned for the Peter Parker/Spider-Man role in 2012’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. The role eventually went to Andrew Garfield. He later auditioned for the Harry Osborn character in the follow-up, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 (2014). That role went to Dane DeHaan.
3. Owns Company
In 2009, he co-founded the theater/film company “The Collectin’ with actress Zoe Worth.
4. Origins
While his name sounds foreign, he’s an American actor with family roots in Russia, Austria and Poland.
