Michael Peña plays an LAPD cop in the gritty-urban thriller in End Of Watch coming to Blu-ray and you can currently catch him in Gangster Squad as a 50s Los Angeles police officer riding alongside Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, and Sean Penn. David Ayer's End Of Watch received positive reviews from fans and critics, and brought note-worthy performances from Michael and his co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña play partners on the LAPD force patrolling the mean streets of south central Los Angeles. Shot in first-person style, the story makes use of handheld HD cameras in police cars, surveillance cameras and their surroundings to tell the story of two cops who stumble onto the Mexican cartel drug ring and become targets for the dangerous gang.
Michael can also be seen with an all-star cast in the period drama GANGSTER SQUAD as part of an elite LAPD force ordered to take down mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) who moves to Los Angeles to take over a crime ring. The film is loosely based on real events when the LAPD took extreme measures in the 1950s to take back the city of angels from the most dangerous mafioso around. Watch trailer.
