The new Prime Video series, Mr. & Mrs. Smith has nothing to do with the original characters played by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, instead it world builds on the premise of a clandestine spy agency but it does address the film character's fate. The brainchild of Donald Glover, the producer also stars as John Doe along with his costar Maya Erskine. Glover's Atlanta series producer partner Francesca Sloan partnered with the actor/producer once again on this new series and speaks to how the idea came about.
