PARANORMAN actress Leslie Mann isn't merely acting as a supportive mother to the bullied Norman, she can relate to being bullied as a child because of her high-pitched voice.

"It was kind of devastating to me and it made me self-conscious growing up."The mother of two and wife of producer-director Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, 40-Year-Old-Virgin) came to accept herself as an adult, and came to realize what made her different, also made her unique.
The voice of Norman in PARANORMAN, Kodi Smit-McPhee, told us being "weird is great," and we should all "strive to be different." He further explained bullying is a form of jealousy, and those being bullied shouldn't change who they are because of peer pressure.
"Bullying can be an act of jealousy so just stay on the track you are, and you'll become that hero one day."Former Cosby kid Tempestt Bledsoe and voice of Sheriff Hooper in PARANORMAN agreed with her co-stars, and teased our host about looking like a popular kid in high school. The beautiful Pili admitted, however, she was definitely more weird than in the in-crowd, and often felt like an outcast. Of course, Tempestt comforted Pili, and said everyone needs "stroking" and approval from others to assure those feeling like outcasts that "you're okay." "Don't change. Be Yourself," she added.
All the actors reinforced their belief that PARANORMAN does just that and encourages others to accept those who are different. A wonderful message from a very entertaining film.
