Tyler Perry leaves the muumuu behind for a more serious role in ALEX CROSS, a psychological thriller starring Matthew Fox. Perry takes over the role from Morgan Freeman as a younger Dr. Alex Cross, and in this clip we get a bit of backstory behind the homicide detective.
Morgan Freeman originated the character of Dr. Alex Cross in
Kiss The Girls (1997) with
Ashley Judd and
Along Came The Spider in 2001. Tyler Perry has some pretty big shoes to fill as a younger version of the police detective out to capture the deranged killer (Fox) who murdered his wife. While we're used to seeing Tyler Perry go off the deep end as Madea, ALEX CROSS is no joke. His character is pushed to the limits of his sanity playing cat and mouse with Picasso (Fox), a skilled serial killer out to torture his victims.
In this clip from ALEX CROSS, Matthew Fox calls Tyler Perry after his wife's funeral to remind him of his loss at his hands. As Alex Cross, Perry is pushed to brink of moral and physical limits.
