Gerard Butler got hurt in the making of this movie during a surfing scene that landed him with a concussion in the hospital.  In CHASING MAVERICKS, Gerard Butler plays local surfing legend Frosty teaching a young man Jay Moriarty to maneuver the mythic Mavericks surf break in Santa Cruz.

CHASING MAVERICKS is based on the true story of Jay Moriarty who died in a tragic accident in his early 20’s.

Elizabeth Shue and Abigail Spencer also star in the film now playing in movie theater.
