Johnny Depp's RANGO topped the box office at #1 in America opening weekend. Internationlly the animated western about a pet chameleon who becomes the sheriff of a town called Dirt, also shot to the top at the movies with audiences flocking to see Johnny Depp's performance... well sort of.
International audiences may be watching RANGO dubbed in their native language which means Johnny's voice has been dubbed over by a local voice over actor. The movie posters for the films may bill the actor (ie. Johnny Depp) as the star but in reality, only their performance is present. The foreign actor impersonates the voice and attempts to capture the essence of the actor's performance.
