Feige explained that co-producer Emily Fong suggested Sink for one specific character, prompting the team to immediately agree.
"It should be her, and it should be this character."
According to Feige, there wasn't even an audition process after that decision. Tom Holland felt a bit jealous given that he auditioned seven times for the dual role.
Interestingly, Feige also confirmed the creative team first decided on the storyline before realizing Sink perfectly fit the role. That suggests the mystery character wasn't created for the actress but was already an important piece of the film's story.
