Johnny Depp disappears into one of literature’s most famous characters in the upcoming Ebenezer, and his costars Ian McKellen (X-Men), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: A Force Awakens), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter movies), Sam Claflin (Hunger Games), are praising the actor’s transformation into Ebenezer Scrooge in a new behind-the-scenes featurette.
“It’s what Johnny does best,” the featurette teases as the cast discusses Depp’s approach to bringing the iconic character to life. With his distinctive look and dramatic physical transformation, Depp puts his own stamp on Scrooge for director Ti West’s new take on the classic tale.
Ebenezer promises audiences something different with the tagline, “The name you know, the story you don’t,” suggesting this won’t simply be another retelling of the familiar Christmas story.
Directed by Ti West, Ebenezer also stars Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen.
Ebenezer opens exclusively in theaters November 13.
