THE CAMPAIGN's Zach Galifianakis & Will Ferrell Name Their Hair Muses

The Campaign interview with Will Ferrell & Zach Galifianakis

With November quickly approaching, political campaigning is everywhere, including this summer's comedic relief THE CAMPAIGN. You've seen Will Ferrell channel George Bush for many years, but this election year, he found his inner John Edwards (former presidential candidate), and even aspired to look like him.

"I literally wanted John Edwards," Ferrell told CineMovie. "The idea of a $900 hair cut inspired me."  As for Zach Galifianakis, his political hairstyle muse: "Al Sharpton."

Aside from their physical motifs, the duo star as long-term congressman Cam Brady (Ferrell) and naive christian Marty Huggins (Galifianakis) who display an outrageously heightened sense of political mockery. However, according to the actors, the movie isn't that exaggerated.  "We're kind of showing that we're not that far off, from that happening in real life," Ferrell said of the scandals and negative campaigning in the flick (like punching babies or connecting Galifianakis's character to terrorist organizations because he has facial hair).

In the movie, Democratic Congressman Brady gets caught making more than 1000 inappropriate calls to women, and a political action committee (PAC) decides they need to invest their money in another candidate to take Brady out of office. Cue Galifianakis's character Marty Huggins, a tourism director who just wants to make a change in his North Carolina town by becoming their Republican congressman. "To have a point of view, along with a big commercial comedy, is not always done. It's always fun to take advantage of an opportunity like that," Ferrell said.

Both Ferrell and Galifianakis told CineMovie they would take a less political path in government, should they have a choice. "If I wasn't in comedy I would've worked for the government...probably payroll services, just 'cause of the excitement," Ferrell Said.  Galifianakis said, "For me, it's really important for people to like me, so probably the DMV."

The guys are obvious comedic power-houses, and when asked how that affected their work, Ferrell said, ""I think most successful comedies, the actors probably have the sensibility of four-year-old children."

THE CAMPAIGN also stars Jason Sudeikis as Cam's campaign manager, and Dylan McDermott who is hired to transform Marty's public image. You can catch the political low-blows and hilarious moments between some of comedies leading candidates when THE CAMPAIGN opens August 10, 2012.
