Noomi Rapace stars with Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS this holiday season and next summer the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo appears in Ridley Scott's sci-fi thriller Prometheus. Not a bad start for the Hollywood newcomer who learned English three years ago.
Listen to interview below.
At a recent press conference with the stars and filmmakers of SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS, the actress tells CineMovie Hollywood has spoiled her already. SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS is Noomi's first American and English-speaking role. The actress, who portrayed Lisbeth Salander in Niels Arden Oplev's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and its two sequels, started acting at the age of seven and went on to appear in more than 20 film and television projects in her native country.
Last year, Noomi began her first American production with the Sherlock Holmes sequel and segued right away into the highly-anticipated Ridley Scott Alien prequel starring Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, and Guy Pearce. She says she didn't know what to expect of her transition to American films, but so far the experience has been rewarding.
"I’ve heard that you’re waiting around and you sit in your trailer and wait, then you go in and do something and then you go back to your trailer and wait. I don’t remember waiting at all. I was extremely happy and then I went amazingly enough straight into Ridley’s, I started to prep Prometheus straight after and I was in that movie for five, six months. So it was a really intense year and now I’m here. I’m really grateful for you, for those people that they believed in me and gave me the chance and invited me to this journey. So I’m extremely grateful and proud."
Sherlock Holmes 2 director Guy Ritchie added hiring Noomi was a no-brainer after having watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He and his producers agreed she would fit right in which was confirmed by a phone call with Noomi.
Next, Noomi reunites with her Girl with the Dragon Tattoo director for the Colin Farrell thriller Dead Man Down.
