Here we take a look at three memorable TV Series which have been set in Sin City…
Pawn Stars
"Pawn Stars" started way back in 2009 and is still going strong to this day after over 500+ episodes. It’s a reality television series which sees what goes on in the day to day running of a 24-hour family run pawn shop. Richard “Old Man” Harrison, his son Rick, Rick’s son Corey “Big Hoss” Harrison and his friend Austin “Chumlee” Russell operate the business and are regularly seen interacting with customers and haggling over prices. They’re also responsible for the narration of the show.
The show is the biggest on the history network and is also the second most popular reality TV show behind "Jersey Shore." Brent Montgomery and Colby Gains of Leftfield Pictures, the show’s production company, were in Las Vegas back in 2008 and noticed a lot of pawn shops of the seedy variety and quickly got to work looking for a family run shop. The rest is history.
CSI: Las Vegas
"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" was one of the most successful TV series’ of all time over the course of its 15 year run on CBS. It’s a show based on crime scenes as you’d expect due to the title and the forensic examinations that take place. It was a crime drama that drew in over 20 million viewers in its heyday and was a big hit due to the well thought out story lines as well as the star studded cast which included the likes of William Petersen and Laurence Fishburne.
In fact, it was so successful, that the theme was used to create and launch an online casino slot game, which can be found in land based and online casino offerings worldwide.
"CSI: Las Vegas" was set, as you’d expect, in Las Vegas. While at times it wasn’t filmed on location but in a studio or other areas, they were always chosen because of their likeness to Sin City, which shows just how important the setting was to the show.
Las Vegas
The aptly names show, Las Vegas, ran for 5 seasons between 2003 and 2008, with over 100 episodes going to air. It’s a TV series that in some way differs from a lot of others as it actually bases itself on what Las Vegas is primarily known for, land based and online casino action. The story is about a group of people working in a fictional casino and resort and showing what they have to deal with over the course of the working day, and night.
Las Vegas was the idea setting for a TV show based around a working casino, including all the live dealer action on the tables, with a lot of the screen work taking place on location on the famous Las Vegas Strip. Even though the show only went on for 5 seasons it was definitely popular during its run with plenty of cameos from mega stars thrown in for good measure.
