There’s a reason why the Tom Hanks naval drama was dumped from a theatrical release to Apple TV+. The World War II movie is one of dullest entry in the genre, and the shortest clocking in at 88 minutes. With little character development, GREYHOUND has some intense moments and intrigue, but initially it's difficult to become invested in it.

At the end of VOLITION, the main character boils down the events that have just unfolded to a single piece of dialogue. “Maybe it is that simple.” Actually the movie from first time feature film director Tony Dean Smith is anything but simple.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt doesn’t take the Bruce Willis/DIE HARD approach in the hijacking thriller, 7500 by Patrick Vollrath in his feature film debut. Instead Gordon-Levitt plays an everyman relying on the assailant’s humanity to save the day.

Elisabeth Moss delivers yet another riveting performance in her new movie, SHIRLEY, reminding us why she's the best actress this generation. Based on Susan Scarf Merrell's book, "Shirley: A Novel" about reclusive horror and mystery author Shirley Jackson played by Moss, SHIRLEY is not so much a biography but a study into the mind of a writer. Actress Odessa Young, in a breakthrough performance, engages with Moss in a sort of cat and mouse game that's unique and intriguing.

VILLAIN is a British import you won't care for at the start with an unlikely lead who looks like he could rip your head off but English actor Craig Fairbrass (AVENGEMENT, CLIFFHANGER) turns in a charismatic performance that flips that first impression. VILLAIN will be available On Demand and Digital May 22.
