A wild premise and outlandish action stunts equals ridiculous fun at the movies with ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER. In the hands of any other director, VAMPIRE HUNTER could've been a mess, but Timur Bekmambetov pulled off a very entertaining movie that requires the viewer to suspend belief in a big way.

It’s a familiar set-up that instantly sends both the horror connoisseur and averse newcomer into fits of eye-rolls: a virgin, a jock, a brain, a beauty and a stoner traipse into an isolated cottage for a weekend of free-fall debauchery before facing their imminent doom. But Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s “The Cabin in the Woods”, a rare genre offering that relies on the horror audience’s oft-ignored ability to both scrutinize and squirm, isn’t interested in delivering familiars.

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is a powerful movie. As someone who was raised with the Ape’s franchise I do not make this statement lightly. I hold this film to a very high standard and although there are a few things that I found fault with there is one scene that is so electric that the hair on my arms literally stood up. On this basis alone I recommend this film.

BELLFLOWER is the story of a really bad break-up. If you take immaturity, alcohol and add a flamethrower, bad things are going to happen. Written, directed and starring Evan Glodell, this indiefilm is the apocalyptic tale of a relationship gone wrong. Completely made in true Indie fashion, BELLFLOWER was picked up for distribution at the Sundance Film Festival. It is a unique, self-styled love story with a take all its own. Like a car wreck it is hard to look away.

Who doesn't want to see James Bond and Indiana Jones in a western stand-off with aliens? Jon Favreau's COWBOYS & ALIENS has a little something for everyone and it's not a sequel or superhero adaptation, so it's already off to a good start.
