Disney is following the formula that made "The Mandalorian" with a new Disney+ animated show that follows mercenaries with Dave Filoni as the executive producer. A spin-off of "The Clone Wars," "Bad Batch" will follow a group of mercenaries who are genetically different from the Clone Army which were introduced on that show. The Disney press release states this "Bad Batch" have a special skill that make them deadly. Read the official announcement.

Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Enterprise is taking the show on the road with its Tribeca Drive-In Series partnering with IMAX and AT&T for pop up drive-ins. Movie theaters may be opening in July but confidence in watching movies in an auditorium remains low in a COVID-19 environment. Drive-ins is the perfect solution, and Tribeca Enterprises announced a curated program will roll out in Los Angeles, New York, Arlington (Texas), Miami, Seattle and suburbs of New York. The program starts July 1st and a percentage of proceeds from ticket sales will go to Black Lives Matter.

Voter suppression is a hot button issue right now, and Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker Liz Garbus and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lisa Cortés tackle the subject in an Untitled Voting Rights documentary featuring former Alabama gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams which Amazon Studios has acquired. The announcement doesn’t reveal whether the documentary will stream before the 2020 primaries in November but that it will be this year. See the official press release.

As movie theaters set to reopen in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic at half-capacity or with no restrictions at all in places like Georgia, the summer blockbusters are revving to go but Warner Bros. has decided to move WONDER WOMAN 1984 from August to October. Warner Bros.' other high-profile movie TENET, directed by Christopher Nolan, was pushed back two weeks to July 31st. BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC, on the other hand, moved up their release two weeks to August 14, the date left open by the WONDER WOMAN sequel change.
