Since Avatar in 2009, audiences have seen an onslaught of 3D movies. As we head into 2012, prepare for a lot more. In a CineMovie poll, we asked movie fans to rate which 3D movie was the best of 2011. Here are the results.

Many films came and went in 2011, but a few deserved much more attention. While some may have been indie movies, others were mainstream concepts that didn't catch on perhaps because they weren't marketed correctly. The good news is that some of our picks are getting some recognition with nominations for some of the actors during this award season and second of all, they are now available on DVD and Blu-ray.

The final chapter of the boy wizard topped the U.S. box office charts for 2011 followed by the third Transformers movie. Despite the $9.9 billion intake at the movies, the box office tally was lower than the previous year's $10.6 billion total gross. Five-hundred and eighty-four films were released in 2011, fifty more films than in 2010.
