The handing out of awards at the 84th Annual Academy Awards went as predicted. The race was between HUGO and THE ARTIST but both throwback films tied with 5 Oscars each. There were no big surprises except in the Best Actress category during the Billy Crystal-hosted show.
While most award season favorites taking home the golden statue on the ABC telecast, Academy favorite Meryl Streep won over SAG Best Actress winner Viola Davis for Best Actress for her performance in The Iron Lady.
