Dr. Seuss' The Lorax has joined the soccer team Las Chivas USA in a good cause for Los Angeles school children in a book reading tour with local radio and Spanish television personalities in the “2012 Read & Score – Bus Tour.”
The “2012 Read & Score – Bus Tour” began Monday, February 27 at the Esparanza Elementary School in Los Angeles with fun lunch time activities for the students with Las Chivas Mascot, the ChivaGirls, and the character from the upcoming Universal Pictures animation movie El Lorax. KMEX's sports reporter Enrique Gutiérrez also read "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" to the students. This week they will continue the book reading tour at elementary schools around Los Angeles with Anaheim, Corona, Redondo Beach, and Wilmington expecting a visit from the 2 adorable mascots. Scheduled to participate as readers are Los Angeles Times' writer Kevin Baxter, ESPN Sport's David Faintelson, ESPN Radio's Beto Duran, and other local tv and radio personalities.
Each school will receive a donation of book thanks to Lectorum Publications, Inc. and la National Education Association. The Chivas organization started the "Read & Score" program last year to help promote reading among school children. The program has rewarded outstanding students for their reading in over a hundred schools and libraries.
“Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax” is in movie theatres March 2, 2012.
