Witches make a comeback in 2013. With the multitude of vampires and zombie projects, witches have been left out of the picture, but three new films in 2013 introduce us to new spell-binding characters.

Three projects in the new year center on good and bad witches.  Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton are slaying evil witches in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters starting January 25.  The witch hunt continues February 13 when the young adult book series Beautiful Creatures comes to the big screen a la Twilight with young love between a mortal and a soon-to-be witch referred to as castors.  Then on March 8, Sam Raimi also brings back the broom-flying ladies for the Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz: The Great and Powerful starring James Franco, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis.

Witches were all the rage in the 80s and 90s with The Craft with Robin Tunney and Neve CampbellWitches of Eastwick starring Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Susan Sarandon, Sarah Jessica Parker in Hocus Pocus and on television with Charmed and of coursed Sabrina, The Teenage Witch.
