'Tron: Ares' Movie News: Jeff Bridges, Jared Leto, Evan Peters Reveal Plot and Composer at Disney’s D23

At Disney’s D23 showcase in Anaheim, CA, Jeff Bridges, Evan Peters, Jared Leto, and Greta Lee revealed the premise of the new TRON: ERES movie. The composer for the third TRON movie was announced with Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails scoring the music.
Greta Lee introduced her TRON ERES character as a programmer whose program allows the Grid's Eres (played by Leto) to enter the real world. Peters revealed he'll play a descendent of Ed Dillinger, the antagonist from the 1982 movie, and the actor hinted his character will continue as the villain,
According to Disney, the new film is about “a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with AI beings.” It’s being directed by Joachim Rønning, who previously worked on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and the sequel to Maleficent. And while we don’t know much about the characters, the cast includes Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson.
As previously announced, a highly sophisticated Program, Ares will enter from the digital world into the real world on a mission, and he's bringing the Grid with him which can't be good for the human world. The first footage screened shows what that would look like, and TRON: ARES will be unlike anything we've seen before from the TRON experience.
Joachim Rønning, who previously worked on the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN franchise and the sequel to MALEFICENT, is directing with Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson also starring.
TRON: ARES hits theaters in 2025.
