Super Hero movie preview

The Green Hornet kick started 2011 with the first of many big screen treatments for super hero franchises and CineMovie breaks down the comic book and graphic novel adaptations hitting movie theaters this year.

After a lackluster 2010 for super hero action, 2011 will be saturated with masked crusaders and super humans… or aliens. Of course, you’ll have to wait until blockbuster season -- summer when Thor will be the first one out of the gate on May 6.  The rest of the film releases such as X-Men: First Class, Green Lantern, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Conan The Barbarian will also be clustered around the summer months.

Check out CineMovie's super breakdown by release date of these films and other blockbuster movies vying for box office gold in 2011.

Sucker Punch

X-Men: First Class

X-Men: First Class Teaser PosterKick Ass director Matthew Vaughn directs this origin story based on Professor Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto's early days when they started out as friends. James McAvoy is the young Professor while Inglorious Basterd’s Michael Fassbender plays Erik. Kevin Bacon joins the cast as the villain Sebastian Shaw with Mad Men’s January Jones as his sexy Mutant sidekick. 2010 break out star Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone) will don the blue paint as Mystique.

Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-MEN.

No official trailer is yet available for X:Men: First Class.  With less than 5 months away from it’s June release, should fans be worried? Probably not since Matthew Vaughn is at the helm and will no doubt deliver a kick-ass movie.  Fingers crossed.
