There has been a great disturbance in the force that even Yoda couldn't have foreseen. George Lucas has signed over Lucasfilm Ltd to Disney. Watch as Disney CEO Bob Iger and George Lucas discuss the decision, and the announcement of a 7th STAR WARS film.
October 30, 2012 goes down into infamy as George Lucas heads to retirement and hands over the STAR WARS franchise, Industrial Light and Magic, and other Lucasfilm LTD properties to the Walt Disney corporation. Expect to see a STAR WARS: EPISODE 7 in 2015 as the franchise expands into new territory under the wing of the mighty mouse with another trilogy. In the video below, both Bob Iger and George Lucas discuss the future of Lucasfilms and STAR WARS under the Mickey Mouse banner. George Lucas also released an additional video introducing his producing partner Kathleen Kennedy who will taking over Lucas' day-to-day managing. Kathleen Kennedy has worked with Lucas since Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and frequently worked with Steven Spielberg.Continuing their domination of the planet, Disney brings Lucasfilm into the family along with two other movie giants - Pixar and Marvel.
