WARM BODIES star Nicholas Hoult crosses over to Hollywood in a big way with several high profile films including the follow up to X-Men: First Class and a reboot of Mad Max. We get the scoop on his new hush hush projects.
CineMovie caught up with the British actor sporting a buzz cut in Los Angeles while promoting his current release WARM BODIES. The new look comes off the heels of wrapping his recent role in Mad Max: Fury Road.“I’ve been with my head in the sand out in the desert. [I’ve] been completely in that world.”Hoult reveals he plays a young soldier of sorts, driving one of the pursuit vehicles. He spent nearly six months in production in the desert up until Christmas of 2011.
He’s currently promoting his current film WARM BODIES where he stars as a sentimental zombie in WARM BODIES, opening February 1st. Up next for the WARM BODIES actor is shooting X-Men: Days of Future Past which reunites him with his Jack the Giant Slayer director Bryan Singer who he calls “trustworthy.”
“We got along very well. He’s fantastic on the X-Men films. He knows what’s going on. And from what I heard about the script, I think its going to be a really cool film. I’m looking forward to it. I like that character as well.”The sixth movie in the X-Men series begins production in a few months, but he tells us he has yet to read the script, he said.
In his next film on screen, Hoult will once again be saving the world in the fantasy adventure, Jack the Giant Slayer, a retelling of Jack and the Beanstock. Hoult describes the experience as “swashbuckling fun” and he was pleasantly surprised how well the giants came to life with CGI.
Nicholas Hoult first came to Hollywood’s attention as the awkward adolescent in 2002’s About A Boy opposite Hugh Grant and Rachel Weisz. He spent the next decade growing out of his awkwardness in low-key roles and in 2011 starred as Hank McCoy/the Beast in X-Men: First Class.
The 23 year-old is on track to become a leading man with a slew of action movies in 2013 and 2014. As a child growing up in Berkshire, England he played action hero around the garden pretending to be a slayer and assassin with his swords.
However, the former Skins actor doesn’t want to limit himself to the action genre. “I like to mix it up, ” he said. For now, he’s living his childhood dream as the action star.
WARM BODIES is in movie theaters February 1, 2013.
