'The Mandalorian' 8-Episode Behind the Scenes Documentary Coming To Disney Plus

Disney released a trailer for their behind the scenes documentary, “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian,” premiering May 4th that will consist of 8-episodes airing every Friday on Disney+. The new preview reveals some of the cool insight into the making of "The Mandalorian" with actor and director interviews.

For this year's May the Fourth Be With You celebration, Disney+ is making sure we have enough STAR WARS content to binge with this new documentary premiering on the same day as the finale for STAR WARS: The Clone Wars,' which will bring the Dave Filoni show to an end.

Disney Gallery The MandalorianIncluded in the Disney: Gallery 8-episode "The Mandalorian" special are roundtables with the different directors and the cast hosted by Jon Favreau discussing the making of the show. The behind the scenes in the preview shows how the Disney+ series introduced projection screens with background imagery versus using a green screen. It will be interesting to see some of the innovations used for the STAR WARS spin-off.

According to the official Disney+ press release, the special will premiere never-before-seen footage, more of Pedro Pascal's beautiful mug and a look at how they made Baby Yoda so freakin' adorable. For more, read the announcement below.

In “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian,” Executive Producer Jon Favreau invites the cast and crew to share an unprecedented look at the making of the series which quickly became a pop culture phenomenon after premiering in November. Debuting on the day that a worldwide community of fans celebrate all-things-Star Wars -- Monday, May 4 -- “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian” is an eight-episode documentary series that pulls back the curtain on the first season of “The Mandalorian.” Each chapter explores a different facet of the first live-action Star Wars television show through interviews, never-before-seen footage, and roundtable conversations hosted by Favreau.

Topics this season include the filmmaking process, the legacy of George Lucas’ Star Wars, how the cast brought the characters to life, the series’ groundbreaking technology, the artistry behind the show’s practical models, effects, and creatures, plus the creative influences, the iconic score, and connections to Star Wars characters and props from across the galaxy.


“Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian” will premiere three days after “The Mandalorian” will wrap its first season in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. New episodes of “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian” will stream every Friday on Disney+.
