Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad-Max-Fury-Road

At least George Miller, the original filmmaker behind the 1979 Mad Max film, helms a reboot of the series that launched Mel Gibson's career. The last time Gibson revisited the post-apocalyptic world was 1985 in Thunderdome.

Tom Hardy is the new Mad Max and judging by the trailer, this new ride looks 10 times more action-packed than all three previous movies combined. Watch trailer.

Terminator Genisys

Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator Genisys

He's back as promised. Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises the role that put him on the Hollywood map as the Terminator. Although they attempted a reboot in 2009 with Christian Bale and brief CGI appearance of the T-800  resembling Schwarzenegger, they're back to the drawing board as they rewrite the original story. The reimagined Terminator also stars Emilia Clarke ("Game of Thrones"), Jai Courtney (Divergent), Matt Smith (“Dr. Who”), Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and J.K. Simmons (Whiplash). Point Break

The Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty) film was a stand alone movie, and Hollywood thinks it can recreate the bromance/rivalry between Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Utah and Patrick Swayze’s Bodhi in a remake. They're going to try with Luke Bracey (The November Man, The Best of Me) as Utah while Edgar Ramirez has big shoes to fill as Bodhi. Teresa Palmer and Ray Winstone are also starring.

The Fantastic Four

 The Fantastic Four 2015 movie

Here’s one film that doesn’t have to live up to the original since anything will be a great improvement over the 2005 and 2007 Marvel superheroes. Director Josh Trank is shaking up things with Michael B. Jordan as a black Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell round out the cast. Watch teaser trailer.

It’s been eight years since "Justified's" Timothy Olyphant took on the role as Agent 47 in the video game adaptation, and FOX is looking to reboot the franchise with "Homeland’s" Rupert Friend as the bald assassin.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

 Star-Wars ForceAwakens-image

It should be called The Franchise Awakens with a planned trilogy now in the works and numerous spinoffs scheduled out for the next decade or so. It was just announced that Episode VIII will arrive in theaters two years in 2017 and Episode IX will follow in 2019 with director Rian Johnson (Looper, Breaking Bad) attached to direct. A Star Wars spin-off directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) is scheduled for December 16, 2016. Rumors have been circulating that Han Solo and Boba Fett are getting their own stand-alone movies.

We’re going to ignore Episode I through III, and say it has been 32-years since we saw our favorite Star Wars characters. Luckily J.J. Abrams is at the helm, and if the first teaser trailer is any indication, we might be in for a good follow-up to the original Star Wars franchise.  Watch Trailer

Mission Impossible 5

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Simon Pegg

Originally adapted from the television series, Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt in another spy thriller. He’s lost some of his star power in other action movies (Oblivion, Jack Reacher), but another Mission Impossible seems like a sure bet especially after the 2011 film directed by Brad Bird revived the franchise. Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames are set to return as well.
