Batman's high-powered modes of transportation made its first appearing in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins with The Tumbler and the Bat-Pod was introduced in The Dark Knight. Both are featured in the finale to Nolan’s Batman trilogy, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Those lucky to be in San Antonio, El Paso, and Phoenix will get a firsthand look at the Batmobiles at the following locations and dates.

THE TUMBLER
Designed as a military vehicle, with the ability to jump (typically 4 to 6 feet high) and equipped to drive off immediately after landing, the Tumbler was designed by the Applied Sciences division of Wayne Enterprises. It was intended to aid in building temporary bridging devices to carry troops and supplies over water and vast open space.Due to its expense, Wayne Enterprises never mass-produced this vehicle, but upon Bruce Wayne’s discovery of the prototype, he knew immediately how he could maximize its stealth design and extraordinary applications to be a powerful weapon in Batman’s quest for justice.

DESIGN
• The Pod is a fully operational motorcycle-style vehicle
• Developed to give Batman a swifter mode of travel around Gotham City streets

• Has 3 guns: grappling gun, machine gun, and a cannon (which shoots mortars to take out cars, walls, and other obstructions in its path)
• Does not need a kick-stand – it is self-righting
• Every element has a design function; it is not just a styled piece (Nothing exists on it just for looks)
