Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney reprise their roles in American Rust Broken Justice season 2, which was picked up by Prime Video after the series was canceled by Showtime in 2021. The actors chat with CineMovie about returning to the roles, and why season 1 was "beat up" and not well-received. The actors explain how the producers fixed the issues that plagued the first season. 

 

Based on Philipp Meyer’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name, the first season of American Rust premiered on Showtime with a lukewarm reaction. Daniels explains the first season was slow in action for the sake of introducing the numerous characters. However, he says the new season is faster-paced.

In season 2, the setting continues to be the fictional town of Buell, Pennsylvania but Del (Daniels) has returned to the Pittsburg police department to expose the Brotherhood, a group of crooked cops. Del and Tierney's Grace continue a long-distance relationship. We chat about their character's mindset under these new circumstances. Season Two picks up with a string of seemingly unrelated murders, hinting at a much larger conspiracy that threatens everyone in this small, tight-knit town

American Rust: Broken Justice takes us back to the fictional small town of Buell, Pennsylvania. Del Harris (Daniels) and Grace Poe (Tierney) try to rebuild their lives after the harrowing events of Season One. Season Two picks up with a string of seemingly unrelated murders, hinting at a much larger conspiracy that threatens everyone in this small, tight-knit town.

All episodes will drop simultaneously on Prime Video on March 28, along with the first season.
