Jensen Ackles Fought To Play Soldier Boy in 'The Boys' Season 3, Says Producer Eric Kripke

Jensen Ackles' casting as Soldier Boy in The Boys was accidental, says showrunner Eric Kripke. Kripke, the creator behind Supernatural, was catching up with Jensen during a call when Kripke told him he was having trouble finding an older actor to play the leader of the superhero group Payback from the comic book. He then thought to ask Jensen whether he was interested, and the Supernatural actor said yes but he had to convince the other producers and Amazon executive to hire him.

Ackles ended his run as Dean Winchester on Supernatural after 15 seasons. The actor joined the cast of The Boys for season 3, and Soldier Boy rivals Homelander as a dangerous antagonist. Stay tuned to the Prime Video show for some surprising revelations about his character.
