Marvel Fan Harrison Ford Wanted in on the MCU Fun: ‘ I Want Me Some of That’

Harrison Ford didn’t need convincing to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While on tour promoting CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD, the actor surprisingly revealed he was a fan of the Marvel Studios movies and the cast so he wanted “some of that.”

Harrison Ford joins the MCU as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, replacing the late Willliam Hurt who originated the role in 2008’s THE INCREDIBLE HULK and reprised the role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR in 2016. Ford joins Anthony Mackie, Giancarlo Esposito, Danny Ramirez (TOP GUN: MAVERICK), Tim Blake Nelson, Carl Lumbly (The Falcon and Winter Soldier), Shira Haas, and Xosha Roquemore.

In CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD, Ross is now the United States President and the former general is about to smash as the Red Hulk.

At the press conference, the actor explains why he was attracted to the MCU.

“I was very happy with the opportunity to play in this playground. What an amazing group of people to work with, and what an imaginative reality. So I was looking forward to having a piece of the action. I think the character was a great fit for me. I was honored to be able to do my work on top of a foundation that a wonderful actor, Bill Hurt, provided for the character. And I think that that I was, you know, I watched Marvel movies, and seeing actors I really liked, really admired, have a great time, and I thought, hey, ‘I want me some of that.’” [laugh]

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD is now playing in movie theaters.
