Melissa Barrera and Paul Mescal star in CARMEN, a retelling of the classic novella with choreographer turned director Benjamin Millepied. Melissa and Benjamin chat with CineMovie about the very artistic film that required her to shoot dancing routines in a single shot. The IN THE HEIGHTS and SCREAM actress says she couldn't cheat the musical numbers as she did in her previous musical.
CARMEN is now showing in select movie theaters in Los Angeles and New York City. Inspired by Prosper Merimee's novella by the same name, Benjamin Millepied's CARMEN follows a young woman who flees Mexico through the desert and runs into a stranger, an ex-Marine with PTSD who saves her life. The two become fugitives as they make their way North to Los Angeles to find Carmen's last connection to her late mother.
